Anche durante l’ultima sessione di prove libere, la Ferrari dà il ritmo guidata dalla No. 50 AF Corse Ferrari. Il marchio italiano sta offrendo prestazioni eccellenti per tutto il weekend e rimane l’avversario da battere. Durante questa sessione, le Ferrari si sono classificate al primo, quarto e sesto posto. A differenza della seconda sessione di prove libere, le vetture LMDh sono rimaste al di sopra del 1:30 questa volta. Il tempo più veloce di Antonio Fuoco è stato di 1:31.228, quasi tre decimi più lento rispetto alla sessione precedente.
Notevole è il progresso della BMW durante le sessioni. Il team tedesco ha chiuso al secondo e terzo posto dopo non essere stato in testa durante le sessioni precedenti. La BMW No. 15 si è classificata a soli 34 centesimi dietro alla Ferrari leader. È stato il pilota belga Dries Vanthoor a segnare un tempo di 1:31.272. René Rast, alla guida della BMW No. 20, ha registrato un tempo di 1:31.543, sufficiente per il terzo posto. La prima Porsche 963 si è piazzata al quinto posto con la No. 5 Porsche, guidata da Matt Campbell. Le due vetture Toyota si sono piazzate rispettivamente al settimo e nono posto. A parte un momento in cui Sébastien Buemi è andato largo, hanno avuto una sessione solida.
Kevin Estre ha chiuso la top 10 nella sua Porsche No. 6 con un tempo di 1:32.028. Al 11° e 12° posto troviamo entrambe le Peugeot. Con ancora tre minuti rimasti, la Peugeot No. 94, con Paul di Resta al volante, ha causato una bandiera rossa essendo finita nella ghiaia. Ciò ha portato alla fine anticipata della sessione.
La Lamborghini No. 63 si è classificata al sedicesimo posto con un tempo di 1:32.880. La vettura verde ha completato solo 18 giri durante questa sessione, a differenza dei 33 giri della Ferrari No. 50, che rappresentano una differenza di ben 15 giri.

Nell’altra categoria, è stata la Aston Martin a conquistare i primi due posti durante la terza sessione di prove libere. La No. 777 D’station Racing Aston Martin ha chiuso con un tempo di 1:42.474, seguita dalla No. 27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin. Anche qui è stata una BMW a chiudere al terzo posto. La No. 31 BMW del team WRT è stata portata al terzo posto grazie a un tempo sublime di Augusto Farfus. Una Porsche e una McLaren hanno completato la top 5. È stata la Porsche No. 92 Manthey EMA, guidata da Malykhin, a classificarsi al quarto posto, mentre Sato ha portato la McLaren No. 95 United Autosports al quinto posto. La BMW No. 46 WRT di Valentino Rossi si è classificata al decimo posto con un tempo di 1:43.425.
La prossima sessione (qualifica) per le 6 ore di Imola inizierà alle 14:45 ora locale.

WEC Imola: Ferrari continues to dominate during the third free practice session
Ferrari set the pace once again during the final free practice session led by the No. 50 AF Corse Ferrari. The Italian manufacturer has been performing excellently throughout the weekend and remains the team to beat. Ferrari cars ended this session in first, fourth, and sixth places. Unlike the second free practice session, the LMDh cars remained above the 1:30 mark this time. The fastest time by Antonio Fuoco was a 1:31.228, almost three tenths slower than the previous session.
Remarkable is the progress of BMW throughout the sessions. The German team finished in second and third place after not being at the front during the previous sessions. The No. 15 BMW was only 34 hundredths behind the leading Ferrari. It was Belgian driver Dries Vanthoor who set a time of 1:31.272. René Rast, driving the No. 20 BMW, posted a time of 1:31.543, good enough for third place. The first Porsche 963 was found in fifth place with the No. 5 Porsche led by Matt Campbell. The two Toyota cars finished seventh and ninth respectively. Apart from a moment where Sébastien Buemi went wide, they had a solid session.
Kevin Estre rounded off the top 10 in his No. 6 Porsche with a time of 1:32.028. In 11th and 12th place, we find both Peugeots. With three minutes remaining, the No. 94 Peugeot, with Paul di Resta at the wheel, caused a red flag as it had stranded in the gravel. This led to the premature end of the session.
The Lamborghini No. 63 finished in sixteenth place with a time of 1:32.880. The green car completed only 18 laps during this session, compared to the 33 laps of the No. 50 Ferrari, representing a difference of a significant 15 laps.

In the other category, it was Aston Martin that claimed the first two positions during the third free practice session. The No. 777 D’station Racing Aston Martin finished with a time of 1:42.474, followed by the No. 27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin. Here too, it was a BMW that rounded off the top 3. The No. 31 BMW from WRT team was propelled to third place thanks to a sublime time by Augusto Farfus. A Porsche and McLaren completed the top 5. It was the No. 92 Manthey EMA Porsche, driven by Malykhin, that secured fourth place, while Sato brought the No. 95 United Autosports McLaren to fifth place. Valentino Rossi’s No. 46 WRT BMW also finished in tenth place with a time of 1:43.425.
